Could people please post anything that has helped them deal/cope with PAS, no matter how controversial.

I will start:

For apathy, depression, anhedonia, depersonalisation - I have found psychedelics to help, they have helped to lift my mood, bring hope and make me more excitable/fun. Of the psychedelics, magic mushrooms have been particularly effective for depression. LSD also helps. It may be worth looking into micro-dosing these substances. For those who don't know how to get hold of these kinds of compounds. Download the Tor browser and learn how to use Dream Marketplace.

For sexual interest/mood/anxiety/depersonalisation - GHB has been very useful. It also makes me more sociable and greatly lifts mood. Some people with PSSD have reported that GHB is the only substance to practically completely reverse their PSSD. Despite its bad reputation as a 'date rape drug' note that alcohol is arguable the biggest 'date rape drug'. GHB is actually a very well tolerated drug with surprisingly little toxicity. Narcoleptics take large doses of GHB in the form of xyrem every night for years with few side effects. It is an endogenous chemical which is completely metabolised in the body.

Exercise - This one seems obvious, but regular, intense exercise is very beneficial for mood. Again it doesn't significantly help any of the sexual sides. But elevated mood is always going to be a benefit.

Viagra - With viagra I can perform better than most people. So although its not ideal as you don't gain as much pleasure yourself. With viagra you can still maintain normal sexual function.

Modafinil/Ritalin - These drugs may help with brain fog, concentration issues.

A user called Paolo on the allthingsmale forum reported that using flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) helped him feel much better and when mixed with pramipexole, recovered his sex drive or made his sex drive/libido feel normal again - http://www.allthingsmale.com/community/threads/accutane-also-lowers-dht-via-rodh-4.21951/

Pramipexole is a dopamine agonist, so this one makes sense. Flexeril is a muscle relaxant which acts on several receptors. Main one is as a 5HT2A antagonist which makes some sense in light of serotonin theory of PAS.

A woman on one of the facebook groups said that muscle stimulation helped her and she's certain it was no side effect as she had it done numerous times on upper back but then lower back suddenly did something.

"I also have had 0 sex drive. Took it when 16. Never really had a sex drive and I completely agree how much it headfucks a person emotionally and interpersonally to never have a sex drive."

"When I was 35 I went to a chiropractor and he put a muscle stim (Russian stim mode from a LSI International muscle stim) on my low back and nothing happened when it was on but I went home and started to feel funny. Started in my bowels, had to go to the bathroom 3 times in an hour then started getting these extremely primal feelings. Had a sky high sex drive for 24 hours a day for 3-4 days. That is the only thing that ever helped me. I even bought the machine for $1,500 and couldn't figure out the correct settings, electrode placement and ended up damaging my back from it to the point where I could hardly stand up and walk for 3 weeks. 2 years later I still have a lot of stiffness in my low back and the skin in front of my spine is still red... So needless to say I'm not trying that again. So I know I have the potential to have a sex drive and I understand what it is like to have one. It was like HELLO, i am definitely attracted to men. Rest of my life haven't been sure... sex drive is so low. I think it is an energy thing, cells just don't have the energy unless it is put in through an electrical stim. I don't know... I think also the stim might have sent a current to the synapses of my ovaries and told them to start producing hormones. I started looking into neuromodulation as many women who have incontinence have electrodes placed near the tailbone and report an increase in sex drive. This has been the only thing that increased my sex drive to 12 out of 10. Rest of the things I tried only increased it temporarily from 0 to 1 out of 10 when first starting it and then it went back to 0 even though still taking it. I tried, maca, iodine, ashwaghanda, tribulus, cannabis oil, carbon 60, etc etc, none of that really helped in that department...."

Few things have helped me a bit, but generally only up to a point, or to the point where they cause other unwanted effects ,causing me to stop;

- Gingko biloba & ginseng - Before actually pinning my issues down to accutane I took gingko and ginseng each day (for ED) for about 3 months, and I think this got morning wood back, which stayed after I stopped taking them. I think this combo definitely helped, but improvements were only up to a certain point, and no improvements in other areas

- Pine pollen powder - 3 x heaped teaspoons for about 4-5 weeks had me feeling really good, really alpha male confident feeling. Massively improved brain fog, mental clarity got near normal. Slightly better libido although nowhere near normal. Started to get high e sides after 4-5 weeks like sensitive puffy nips so stopped. Tried to repeat but oddly didn't get the same benefits second time. PP does increase DHEA which might be the reason for the benefits.

- TUDCA - 3 x 250mg per day and this got me sweating again and feeling a bit better overall. Stopped after 4-5 weeks for sides which looking back could have been low potassium.

- Viagra/Cialis - work really well for ED (would not try more than about 1/4 capsule as so effective), but they don't improve sensitivity. Also causes racing heart and flushing.

- Vitamin D - 10,000 iu every 2 to 3 days. Seems to make me feel more social and witty and generally improves overall sense of wellbeing

- Shilajit resin - helps with mental clarity a bit

- Betaine HCI - definitely improves mental clarity for a while. Still taking with meals

- Kefir milk - also improved mental clarity and overall sense of wellbeing, but always results in candida overgrowth after only a few days of use - get a full on white tongue at the back. Possibly beneficial down to the b-vitamin and folate content

Here is a post from user Mikez on the acne.org thread

"My sexual dysfunction is about 0.5-1 /10 in terms of libido satisfaction (when untreated). On HCG it got to 4/10 , which is quite an improvement for something with no felt side effects.

I've tried maybe 30+ agents since 2009. Besides the low dose HCG and pregnenolone (dosages in previous post), which got me to about 4-5/10 in libido , I've forgotten something. Sinimet (Levodopa with Carbidopa) 200mg/day was tried a few years ago. Complete restoration of libido, mood elevation , increased appetite and muscle hardness. Its prescription only, so youd need an open minded Dr , and note everyone's brain chemistry is different. This may not be for you.

You can try L tyrosine plus Mucuna Pruriens, both over the counter, the latter containing about ~10% L-dopa naturally. I tried these with zero effect.

Unfortunately, Sinimet made it harder for me to sleep both times I tried it, leading to discontinuation, however I'm prone to insomnia. I still may reinstate it.

Sinimet was tried twice with the same result. Note that I was also on SSRIs , so my brain chemistry may be quite a bit different, and thus my results. However, I was on them 8 years before accutane, without libido issues, so my sides are not due to the SSRI , IMO.

I'm also going to try MACA (must be heated - look for the gelatinized powder, not raw) to help with libido, as this has proof in studies to restore SSRI induced anorgasma etc. Effective dose used was 3g/day. "

Sometimes anti-inflammatory herbs/supplements seem to help, especially bromelain. It seems to calm my gut and this then has an effect on my nervousness genreally. Also, nettle tea.
